Counselling Service

You might be feeling a lot of different emotions both before and after having a baby, not just depression but also anxiety, stress, and relationship issues. Counselling provides support and space to figure out why you are feeling the way you do.

Counselling can help you consider issues from a different perspective. The new knowledge and insight you gain about yourself and your situation can bring hope and make change seem more possible.

You can find a real sense of relief in finally talking about issues and feelings that you find difficult to discuss with others. In counselling, you and the counsellor look at how you want to feel different, and why you don’t already feel like that.

Counselling can be for a few sessions or longer term, depending on what you want to get out of it. Some people find that a few sessions gives them relief from something that is bothering them, and others find that they require more time to explore more complex issues.

Juno PMHS offers subsidised counselling through Sarah Wheatley at Birth and Beyond. Sarah’s role is to guide you through the process without telling you what to do or judging. She may, on occasion, give information or offer suggestions. You both work together towards what you want to be the outcome of your time in counselling.

If you’d like to access the counselling service, then please ask your group facilitator or else contact Sarah directly.
