Tension and Trauma Release Exercise (TRE)

Tension and Trauma Release Exercise (TRE) is a technique which helps to settle the nervous system again after trauma. Often stress and trauma can be held in our bodies over a long period of time and can lead to issues such as headaches, muscle pain and digestive problems. TRE is a series of exercises, similar to yoga, which help to release the tension caused by stress and trauma, by using the body’s natural shaking mechanism.

Often after Birth Trauma, you can feel disconnected from your body, which can bring on feelings of fear, shame, guilt, numbness or dissociation. TRE can help you reconnect with your body again, and help you get to that safe place, so that the nervous system can settle and the brain can start its process of recovery.
